Göbeklitepe Life

In the lands of Southeastern Turkey sits Göbeklitepe. An archaeological site that speaks volumes about the resourcefulness of our forefathers, from ancient times. Having been built than 11 millennia ago before Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids came into existence Göbeklitepe pushes us to rethink what we know about civilizations. The elaborate constructions and towering T shaped pillars embellished with carvings of animals and symbolic figures offer a glimpse into the skills of that period.
Building Göbeklitepe demanded a level of knowledge, in geometry and organization besides skills in masonry workmanship as the builders found ways to move and set up enormous limestone pillars weighing more, than ten tons each with precision and align them with celestial bodies—a sign of advanced expertise not usually associated with ancient civilizations of that era.
Göbeklitepe goes beyond its physical setup; its design reflects a connection, to the stars and planets above. Suggesting it served not only as a gathering place or religious site but also as a place to study the skies and their influence, on life and beliefs at that time.
